We've been mildly obsessed with this idea of 'the more the merrier' for a few weeks now. It started on Mother's Day which brought back fond memories of growing up in our house with lots of guests coming and going. It was just the way life ran. And it made us want to have room for anyone who would drop in. We might be a little less social today but the goal remains the same: to create functional, inviting spaces where life can happen.
Laid-back luxury is the name of the game.
Today's inspirational images all come from the uber-talented and esteemed designer Mark Sikes. He has nailed this theme and his rooms are layered, inviting and use space in unconventional ways. Sectionals and chaises are placed in corners, benches divide seating areas to allow conversation in multiple directions and chairs are expertly placed into nooks to make room for that extra person. There's always space to add another chair. Feet are meant to go on furniture and nothing is untouchable or precious. No spot is wasted and that's just how we like it.
